Adult trip to Canada!

Nick had some work to do in Vancouver/Victoria, so we left Camille with Grandma and Grandpa and headed up for a few kid-free days.

Sad about our empty carseat (for about an hour, then happy for the pleasant car ride :)

Hit up Granville Island for lunch

Getting lunch of bread and cheese at the market

Taking the ferry over to Nanaimo

My grandma has always made Nanaimo bars and they are a big favorite in our family. I had to get one while we were in Nanaimo and I have to say, it was pretty delicious.

We stopped on our way down to Victoria to see the salmon running up the river. It is such an interesting thing to watch - they struggle to get back up the river and so many of them don't make it.

Packs of birds line the banks, eating away at the dead fish

Victoria - the Crown Victoria(?) hotel

The Parliament building

at night

Headed to Butchart Gardens on our way out. It was pretty, but November wasn't a great time to see much of anything in the garden.

One of the few flowers in bloom.
